Strawberry Music Festival 2014; Chengdu, China.
I’ve decided to start telling the story behind the photo, and thought this would be a good one to start off with!
On the day of this festival, I met one of my pupils, Nicole, outside the school very early in the morning. She’d packed a picnic for us- including sandwiches (which are a rarity in China)! Our friend Prim (another pupil) got her dad to pick the three of us up, and off we set to the festival! We met my friend, Becky, an English teacher there and found a good spot. Now I know it doesn’t look it in the photo, but it was SO HOT! The kind of hot where you seriously contemplate throwing a bottle of water over your face. They had loads of different stages- this was the main one. As we walked to and from each stage, passing lots of little stalls and markets, we bumped into another English teacher I knew; I hadn’t seen him for a couple of months, so that was crazy! Myself and Becky sat on the grass to enjoy the music, and Nicole and Prim wandered off into the crowd where they danced away to their favourite bands. As the event came to a close, we dashed for the bus, still fanning ourselves from the heat. It was such a great day, and I’d love to go back!
